Our Instructors and philosophy

Grandmaster Sop Mu Huh started Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido in Korea at the ripe old age of 3! Before he was 10 years old he had achieved the rank of black belt in both styles. By the age of 20 he was a member of the ROK Marines, ROK standing for Republic of Korea. As a ROC Marine, Master Huh taught self defense to the troops for more than 2 years. He came to America in 1990 and opened a Tae Kwan Do school in Flushing, Queens. In 2010, Master Huh started training in Gracie Jiu Jitsu. He excelled at this form of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and went on to win the IBJJF World Championship in 2012 as a blue belt, and then again in 2013 as a purple belt. He also won the Pan Am Tournament, another world class competition, 3 different times, as well as winning gold medals in Grapplersquest and NAGA. Today Grandmaster Huh is proudly teaching Tae Kwon Do and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to children and adults at Spirit Martial Arts School located in Ozone Park, Queens.

His goals are not only to teach students self defense, but to make them better people by teaching them humility, respect and discipline. By doing this, he at the same time, teaches the student how to fight and how not to, which is sometimes more important. Learning the values of respect and discipline carry over into other parts of the student’s life, giving them a better chance for success. We welcome students of any age and background to come in and try our FREE TRIAL Tae Kwon Do and Jiu Jitsu classes. Just sign the form so we can say hello!
